Blogging Without Borders: A Whole New Bulletin Board

If you remember, last week I was working on the old bulletin board I found at the thrift store. Grady and I managed to create a frame around it in this post.

This week I've been working on Step 2...

I started by painting both the board and the frame. I painted several thick coats of regular indoor wall paint on the board. However, I watered down the paint in the hopes of creating a "white-wash" for the frame...only painting it once.

Next, I made a stencil out of a pattern I drew...trying to duplicate this...

found here.

Lastly, I painted the stencil.

And, just a little recap...

    1. No, I just made one shape on paper, then traced it on to poster board...later used an Xacto knife to cut it out. It's easier than you think!

  6. Love it. Since painting the cork, do you notice that the pins leave more noticeable holes? I've thought of painting one of my cork boards but am leery of seeing holes all over the place.

    1. I haven't played with it enough to notice...but a few holes shouldn't be too horrible!

  17. What sort of paint did you use? I want to try this but I am hesitant about painting the bulletin board. Does the paint crack when you pin things into it?
