Flea Find

This was one of those purchases that I didn't actually need...
and quite honestly had no idea where it would go...
but goodness, it sure was pretty.

I thought it could be fun for Christmas this year...

but, being that it's kelly green, it might find a perfect permanent spot too...

Flea Find

One of my most favorite finds from last week had to have been these sweet, little crocheted hangers.  We saw them piled in a basket on the ground with a signed that read, $1 each.

After my heart skipped a beat, I quickly collected them up.

They really couldn't have come at a better time with Ross's Christmas present already in the works...

Repurposed Fan Belt Display

It's the first Wednesday of the month...and you know what that means...

I was pretty excited about this months project- mainly because I've had this old fan belt display I found at the flea market years ago sitting in our garage...outfitting spiders with new digs. It was making me sick I couldn't find a spot for it.

If you remember, it used to hang in the laundry room in our old house...it fit perfectly there. But here, I just don't have the same setup.

Luckily, while I was putting together the fall decor, an idea came to me...

so now it sits.

(And while we're at it...here's a sneak peek of the fall table.)

Be sure to check out the rest of the RRR projects this month. I assure you, they never disappoint.

Fun Find: This Tufted Chair

Of course, I couldn't pass it up.
I saw it there in the Goodwill...holding it's arms out to me.
I just couldn't walk away.

My eyes were immediately drawn to those big green buttons and its lush green velvet. :)
I almost thought it was too good to be true,
and then I saw just one small problem...
no cushion.

Now, if you're really lucky, then you know how to upholster things and you could whip up something in a flash, but if you're me, you don't.
However, I do happen to know someone fabulous who does. So, I gave my gal a few measurements and a small pattern I created by taping paper together.

And, wouldn't you know it, a whole new chair.

Funny. This chair makes the 4th fabulous thrift chair in the room...
And, I'll be derned if that's not something to be proud of.

(P.S. I'll get a family room tour done soon...my "all around" camera lens broke last week...grrrr...sooooo...I'm trying to figure out what to do next...
in fact, if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I've got an old school Nikon D60 and it was the "kit" lens that broke. It's gotta be something similar that would capture a whole room...and I wouldn't mind stepping it up a small notch...)

Fun Find: vintage embroidery

I guess we've been in our new house about 3 months now, and I'm embarrassed to say it took a good 2 before we had Fleming and her crowd over for supper.
Ridiculous, I know. Especially seeing as how they only live about 5 miles from here.

After ripping open the bag she brought that night, I was so consumed with how incredibly perfect this sweet, little find was that I forgot to ask her when she actually found it...

but somehow her timing was impeccable.
One day I'll show you her house...

Fun Find: Lamps

So, I found these beauties back in our old town, right before we left. I wasn't thrown off by the color at all, but really had no idea if I'd paint them or not. And, of course the $15 price tag for the pair made it almost ridiculous not to buy...

And, believe it or not...I found the perfect spot...
(Stay tuned, guys.)

Fun Find: Candle Holders

I had a fit when I came across these old candle holders.
It's hard to believe someone would actually get rid of them, but goodness gracious, I'm surely glad they did.

Fun Finds: Mirrors

Another go-to for me in thrifting is a mirror.
I feel like you can invariably find a spot for them, so I've always got my eye out for a fun shape or unusal design.

I've had my mind set on a mirror wall in the dining room...maybe even one that I can continuously add to?
It's in the works...

Fun Find: Chair Back?

Funny. I've had this old chair back/bottom/idk for several years now. I think I picked it up for a dollar at one of my old stores. It's been hidding beside my washing machine in the old house...hoping I'd find a good spot.  Sad to say, I couldn't ever decide exactly how I'd use it.

It finally hit me here in our new house...

This is our downstairs spare bathroom. It's tiny...basically a powder room with a tub, so it's certainly not going to take much to fill it. It ended up that the new chair bottom magazine rack was the perfect addition.

But, I gotta ask, how would you have used it?

(More on this room next week...)
Happy hunting, y'all!

Flea Find: Old Wooden Ladder

Yet another flea market find from a few months ago, finally being put to good use...

beacause, in my mind, if there's a crocheted blanket attached to it, you know something's right.

It's coming together, guys...it's coming together.

A thrifted frame...

can always be put to good use.

If you remember, Grady and I took a trip to the Wine Country back in October.  Usually on our trips I like to bring back a bold piece of art...and, although I found a few things in San Franscisco, I was devastated that I never found anything in the Sonoma/Napa area.

Luckily, I took a ton of pictures. :)
This one was one of my favorites.  It was taken at Lambert Bridge, a to die for winery in Healdsburg.

After a little tweaking in Photoshop, I printed it out and stuck it in this old, $2 thrifted frame.

There's always a use for a thrifted frame.

Wednesday Redo: Thrift Store Vases

Even if you don't frequent a thrift store, chances are you've seen these before. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever been in one where I didn't see one or two.

...and when you know what they can look like with a little tlc, the 50 cent price tag seems even better than too good to be true.

Check out Anderson & Grant's thrift store transformity HERE.

Flea Find: A Farm Table

So, back to the flea market finds...
(I told you I'd get to them at some point.)

That really was quite a day.

Believe it or not, I found TWO tables that day...no wait, I take that back...THREE tables that day!
This was one of them.

Those aqua chairs you see are from the old house...ones I found at a local thrift store years ago.

The white chairs are from IKEA...thanks to Fleming's recommendation (who swears they were one of the best IKEA purchases she's ever made).

Here's a sneak peek at the kitchen area. There's still more to situate, but if you only knew how far I've come...

Have a great weekend, guys!
...and happy hunting!

Thrift Store Catch-All

Well, while all of you are probably preparing for the Fourth, I'm still organizing and unloading things around here.  In the midst of organizing here at the new house, I realized I didn't have a place for keys and such.  Laying them on the counter almost completely does me in...and unfortuantely I don't have a spot for my trusty, old catch-all shutter from the other house...
So...in comes this month's RRR project!

I found THIS for, you got it...a dollar.

I have to admit, I liked it just the way it was a lot...but I think for the particular space I'm putting it, it needed a splash of color.

After I sprayed it, I traced back over the writing (that I could still see under the paint) with a white, fine tip paint pen.

It's hard to tell from this picture, but I lightly hand sanded it around the edges...just to rough it up a bit.
It seemed a little more appropriate like that. :)

There's still much to do around here...but I'll get there.
At some point.

Okay! Now go check out all the other fun RRR projects!

On the Chalkboard

My first chalkboard post in the new house...
and I'm beside myself.

This old, aqua door happens to be one of the flea finds from a few months back.
I can barely stand it, I love it so.

I found these mason jar lights at a litle place called Home South a few weeks ago...and I couldn't wait to stick them on...
I'm hoping this set up will make it really pop just as you walk in the door.

I wish I could spend my time doing projects like this every day...but sadly I'm up to organize our attic today.  *sigh*

Have I mentioned how horrific moving can be...?
