Our Little, Rustic Christmas Porch

I'll assume you recognize this same monogram you've seen over and over again...
well, I thought I might try to stretch it into just one more post.

It's still on the same old grapevine wreath you see here...
and, I don't know, for the life of me, why I never put this together before...but thank goodness it dawned on me to add my own tree trimmings to it...and save a few bucks making my own fresh wreath this year. It literally took 5 minutes. (Why, on earth, hadn't anyone said anything to me about this before?? Because, I'm sure you've all been doing it for years, haven't you?)

Turns out it was just what I needed to go with the other additions...

But, don't let this rustic look fool you, because the inside is far from it...

DIY Glittery Globe Lights

I had these globe lights (from Target) that I have adored the past several years...and was devestated when the lights blew.

They sat for several months...until it occurred to me that the globes could easily be removed and put on another strand.
Not only that, but they opened up, almost like a Christmas ornament...

I ran across these shiny paper pieces at Hobby Lobby...

 set up my filling station...

and dumped it in.

I put the tops back on and repositioned the globes on a new stand of lights.

A 20 minute project...tops.
Seriously excited about these.

One Dirty Baby Shower!

My friend Kristy and I threw a little baby shower this weekend for our good friends, Mike and Kim. We were so excited to do it! And, I'm thrilled with how all the DIRTY decor turned out!
(Can you spot those shovels?)

(Mudpies, dirt cups & Muddy Mix!)

Congratulations, Mike & Kim! We can't wait to meet baby Parker!!!

A Noteworthy Share.

I ran across this the other day and knew right away I had to share. The difference is amazing! I'll definitely be trying Lue's method of upholstery cleaning next thrift find!

Be sure to visit Lue Belle's and check out what she did!

American Dream Cottages

I thought I'd start off the week with something pretty exciting...
Not sure if you've ran across the latest issue of American Dream Cottages or not...and well, if you did, maybe you'd recognize a certain someone's house...

Believe me, I was surprised too. This has almost been a year in the making...but I'm still overwhelmed reading through the 8 page spread. Never, in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd open up a magazine and see my house...never.

I'm serious.
Never.

Happy Monday, thrifters!

Repurposed & Redone Series: View Along the Way

Eek! What a privilege to be here sharing a project while Holly welcomes her new little one! I'm a huge fan of her creativity and inspiration, so it's a pleasure to be here. I'm Kelly and I blog at View Along the Way. That's me there with my little fam.

Mostly I blog about our attempts to fix up a nasty ol' foreclosure on a teensy little budget. We've come a long way, but you know how it goes: the end is nowhere in sight! Let me give you an example. We've lived with bare, hanging lightbulbs all over the house for years, like here in our office.

It's shameful how long we've lived like this, you guys. Shameful. But we're all about finding cheap, do-it-yourself solutions, so when I spotted this fancy-schmancy light (for $550!) at Horchow, I thought it was gorgeous and was determined to make my own.

You can check out all the details for how we made our DIY capiz shell chandelier HERE, but we turned this tea light holder I found at TJMaxx...

...into a DIY hanging light just like the Horchow version, for about 90 percent off. Hard to beat that price! Here's how the end result turned out:

See all the details HERE.
It was relatively quick and painless and I'm so happy with the result! Quick-fix updates that look expensive but are not are my favorite kind of project. You can see more of my projects - including the most popular ones - right here on my project gallery.

I hope you'll subscribe to the blog via RSS or follow me on facebook, twitter or pinterest for more projects just like this. I'd love to connect with you, and I hope you'll come along for the ride! Pin It Now!

"Antiqued" Labels

Well, she got me thinkin'...
Why not try labels?

So, I soaked them in coffee and baked them in the oven just like she described (although, only for 5-10 minutes since they're much smaller).

Then, lightly ironed them.

They sure would be cute Christmas present lables...or maybe even storage container labels...

but, I have something else in mind...
