Gram's Shelves

So, when we first started in Gram's room, this was the condition of his shelves...

Since then, I've made some changes...

The chalkboard paint I showed you earlier in the week worked wonders, and it was exactly what I was hoping for...something I can change whenever I please by simply erasing.

Hahahaha...and there's a lot more where that came from....
On to the next project.

Renewed Built-ins

So, I left you last week with a few shots of the baby's room...in particular, the built-in shelving. Mind you, the blue wasn't horrible by any means, but I knew I had to make my mark on them. (Literally...)

So, I decided to go with grey...grey chalkboard, that is.

I used the same recipe you've all seen before: 1 cup paint and 2 tbsp unsanded grout.
(Which couldn't be easier with Valspar's 1 cup paint samples, by the way.)

And, can I tell you how excited I was to try out my new Paint Brush Covers! Have you seen these??? (Because, you might have... on ABC's "Shark Tank!")

How clever, right?
No cleaning out brushes between coats!
No messy dried up paint left on the brushes!

Once I did all the painting, I "seasoned" the walls by coloring them...then immediately erased them.

This was my outcome.

And, what about those paint covers?
Perfection. In fact, this brush was left in its cover for TWO DAYS, and it still came out just as wet as when I left it!
Ridiculously smart idea.
Go check it out HERE...becuase you won't be dissapointed!

I'm still working on dressing the shelves...but, here's a tiny sneak peek.
(Stay tuned.)

WHAT I'M WORKIN' WITH: the baby's room

Oh my
I'm honestly not quite sure how I managed to acquire so many new belongings over the past 5 years since we last moved...but somehow I did.  It's forced me to make yet another Goodwill pile that has filled up half our garage...because darn it, I refuse to literally move items that have been sitting in one attic to then sit in another.
It's completely doing me in.

Anyway. With all that being said, most of our stuff is finally out of boxes and sitting ready to be placed. This room would be one example...the baby's room.

I'm pretty in love with all those built-ins...although, not so much with the wall color behind them. THAT, however, leads me into this week's project...my first project, in fact.

Let's see what we can do...

Looking for a few nursery ideas?

I couldn't have been more thrilled when I was asked to create a new clipboard on Hometalk all about nurseries...my most favorite room in a home! I'm not sure if you've gotten on Hometalk lately, but I was in awe at some of the fun ideas I found!

Home Tour: Baby Gram's Nursery

Boys are new to me. So, I'll be honest, going into this, I wasn't all too convinced I could decorate for a boy. There's still so much I have yet to learn about them...

However, as it turned out, decorating for a boy turned out to be pretty, darn fabulous. It forced me to play around with new colors and patterns that my daughter never would have allowed me to use...new colors and patterns that I've truly fallen in love with.

The Chair Wall (for the nursery)

You haven't forgotten about my love of wooden chairs, have you?
Surely not.
Because they're up there...right along with the wire baskets and the thick, wooden frames and, you guessed it... the mason jars.

This was the one wall I've known about for years...the one I've been picturing in my mind over and over again. I didn't know exactly my precise placement, but I knew my thrift collection of chairs had to be on the wall.

I started with butcher paper, to help me visualize.

Then, hung them securely with anchors and hooks.

And once they were there, I realized they'd be a great way to display a few things, too.

And, so, I guess that's it.
It's done.
Another room, complete.

All that's left now is the final tour...
so stay tuned.

Fun Find: Hobnail Milk Glass Lamp

You wouldn't believe me if I told you how much I found this for...or lack there of...so, I won't brag.
(But, it was too good to be true, people...too good to be true.) :)

The shade, I happened to have from a previous find...stored away in the garage.

Together, they make the perfect little night light for the nursery.
