I love GW and Habitat for Humanity. I've actually followed people around the store waiting to see if they're actually going to buy that item I want or if they'll put it back on the shelf. I agree with you. Who would ever give up something this precious?
Well, I'm not too keen on that item, so to each his/her own. I'm sure there are some things I find in thrift stores, garage sales that others don't like or care for, hence the "someone's trash is someone elses treasure". :-) I'm glad you gave it a good home tho.
Shopping in a big box store just doesn't cut it for me. I want something unique and so many older items were made to last and are of beautiful quality. It boggles my mind that there are people who can buy expensive things and then, get tired of them and donate them. My home is full of wonderful pieces that I love. What is so funny is I share your excitement and are happy for your find, which is ANOTHER aspect of the thrifting crowd. Sometimes, I feel like a voyeure, enjoying other people's finds.
How beautiful! Such a lucky find for you!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny! When I see things like that I run to them and scoop them up, hiding them like the dude on Lord of the Rings "my precious!!!"
ReplyDeleteSo true, girl! I know how you feel!
DeleteI totally agree! I just found some gorgeous dishes at GW myself. Blogged about it today - come on over and take a look! :-)
