Well, I imagine it's no surprise that you'd see the color orange splashed here and there. I guess I just haven't been able to get enough of it in this house. I ended up pairing the orange accents in the room with "Quilt Gold" by Sherwin Williams. And, I'll be honest, yellow is a scary color to choose. It always looks lighter on the wall than it does on your paint chip! But, I've been quite happy with this particular color, and I can't say I wouldn't choose it again.
I'm happy to say, this room has been used a lot in the last 2 years, mostly by my parents . . . who come to visit a certain little girl quite frequently! :) It's been so nice. I hate to see a guest room never in use.
Annie found this old lamp base at a thrift store and made the to-die-for shade!
(I nearly had a panic attack when I opened it up last Christmas!)

ReplyDeleteI love how you've balanced the yellow with your accent pieces. I've tried recently to make yellow work in our house and I'm now in the process of repainting and changing the color; I agree yellow is a very tricky color, but you certainly have mastered the use of this hue!

Love yellow. Love orange. Love this whole room. I'm with Ellie on the use of color. Many neutral rooms are beautiful, but it's the colorful ones that make me want to move in. Or at least, copy them. (Because moving in would be impractical and creepy :-) But now that I write this, I realize that maybe what I love even more than the color is that this room can't be copied. It's got so many unique touches. A really cozy, warm, casual, fun, original space. NOW I know what I want my house to look like when it grows up...
ReplyDeleteSo bright and cheery! No wonder it's seen so much enjoyment. :) Love it!
