A Toddler Pillowcase Tutorial

With Ross getting so big, it's inevitable that we'll be making the "big girl room" transition soon. And, in order to help make the transition easier, my plan is to slowly make small changes . . . one of which, is the addition of a pillow.

You probably already know IKEA makes a sweet, little toddler pillow insert . . . but I didn't see too many pillowcase choices to go along.

Using left over fabric from her curtains, I cut a piece large enough to wrap the pillow loosely (roughly 31in. x 31in).

Next, I folded the fabric in half (right sides together) and pinned it. I sewed (straight stitch and zig-zag stitch) 2 of the open edges, leaving one open end.

Then, I finished the open side by folding it down about a 1/4in., ironed it and sewed it.

After I finished the edge, I folded (and ironed) the same edge down again- this time about 5 inches down . . .

and sewed it all the way around my pillowcase.

At this point the actual pillowcase is done . . . the next few steps are optional!

Next, I cut an extra long strip of fabric
(enough to go around your pillow at least 1 and a half times).

Then, I sewed a straight stitch all the way down the middle of my strip
and tied a knot on one side.

Next, I began pulling the top string of the side opposite of the knot until it started to gather. You'll need to keep pulling the top string until the length of your fabric matches the length of your pillowcase.

Lastly, I pinned and sewed the ruffle on the pillowcase.

  1. So sweet! I love the fabric choices. Our little one is nearing the age of a big boy room transition. That is a great idea to introduce things slowly and start with a pillow!

  2. I have had a trip to IKEA on my list for a while, so I'm not in the "know" about the cute toddler pillow. Wonder what else I don't "know" they have? I better get their this week.

  12. love this... very cool. If you can and have room.. I suggest use nap time as a big girl space time. Then usual bed as nite time untill she is ready to make the transition. I did this with all three of my kiddos. the transition was perfect. No nights where they didn't know what to do.

  31. The appearance of sizegenetics means a lot. You would want to just remember to enjoy the look of one's person who are going to be giving you your gay sizegenetics. Actually very helpful to have pictures available in the event you book your session. Remember the old saying; a picture is worth 1000 words. So using a website that uses photos is the perfect way that should be excited about your sizegenetics experience before you visit. The Internet has become one among the better how to find a suitable therapist to give you your erotic gay sizegenetics.
