Fun Find: This Tufted Chair

Of course, I couldn't pass it up.
I saw it there in the Goodwill...holding it's arms out to me.
I just couldn't walk away.

My eyes were immediately drawn to those big green buttons and its lush green velvet. :)
I almost thought it was too good to be true,
and then I saw just one small problem...
no cushion.

Now, if you're really lucky, then you know how to upholster things and you could whip up something in a flash, but if you're me, you don't.
However, I do happen to know someone fabulous who does. So, I gave my gal a few measurements and a small pattern I created by taping paper together.

And, wouldn't you know it, a whole new chair.

Funny. This chair makes the 4th fabulous thrift chair in the room...
And, I'll be derned if that's not something to be proud of.

(P.S. I'll get a family room tour done soon...my "all around" camera lens broke last week...grrrr...sooooo...I'm trying to figure out what to do next...
in fact, if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I've got an old school Nikon D60 and it was the "kit" lens that broke. It's gotta be something similar that would capture a whole room...and I wouldn't mind stepping it up a small notch...)

Wednesday Redo: Super Cool Side Table

How creative, right!?!?
It's amazing how adding something so plain and simple can take this $5 IKEA stool to a whole new level.
Ugh. I love it.

Cannonball Bed REDO

Alright...well, I do know this isn't the most original RRR project in the world (because who hasn't painted a piece of furniture?), but y'all, it had to be done. And, if I can help the one person out there that hasn't painted a piece of furniture before, then so be it.
Let's get to it.

You may disagree, but I've always liked this style of bed...and luckily my parents listened when I told them I'd love to have theirs whenever they decided to get rid of it.
Bed...free.

The first step I took was sanding...just enough to take the shine off really.

Next I primed it...2 coats of Kiltz.
Quart of Kiltz- $8.

Lastly, I painted...2 coats of aqua (Vaspar's Woodlawn Charm, to be exact).
Although I typically rough up anything I paint, this one I decded to leave alone (Besides the scratches I made trying to put the mattress and box springs in place by myself. Ugh.).
It's a nice change, I think.
Quart of Valspar custom color- $15.

Total cost- 23 bucks.

I'm also fully aware how blank and bare it is in here.
That's coming...

...eventually.

Now go check out the other cool RRR projects for this month!

Dressed and Ready.

I had a second to fill the shelves this weekend...although I do apologize, it was cloudy and rainy all weekend, so my pictures could have been better.
(I should have waited, but I was much too impatient.)

The Newest Addition...

I wish I had a fabulous tutorial to share with you...
with detailed pictures and a complete how-to...
but I have none of those.
Wood work isn't and probably never will be in my cards.

Instead, I have Pop.
I guess you haven't met Pop before (that's him in the green, by the way).
Despite the incredible pieces of furniture he's created, he's always been pretty modest about his carpentry skills.
But, if you ask me...

a picture is worth a thousand words.

Fun Find: the perfectly pink thrift chair

Although I chose to have white walls in this house, that certainly doesn't mean everything will be.

In fact, we hadn't even moved from our old house when I spyed this perfectly pink, velvet chair from the thrift store... for a mere $30.

And, there was no question in my mind...I had to have it.

I adore this idea.

It makes me want to go out and create my own super creative headboard idea!
(Which is exactly what I need to be doing right now, by the way...)

SUPER Easy Lamp Redo

It's that time again!

Okay, okay...I'll confess I dipped out last month. But, I think I've finally gotten my bearings, and we're back in buisness. Sorry, guys.

So, although we've been staying with Annie these last few weeks (due to the move), it certainly hasn't held me back from thrifting. While at the beach over spring break, in fact, we had a full day of it.
It was pretty, darn fabulous.

Funny, we found this old lampshade ($3)...

and this old lamp base ($25) at the very stame Goodwill.

Annie came up with the bright idea to strip the shade down...

and I decided to paint a few quick stripes on the plastic piece at the neck of the base...

Then, we put it all together.

It looks pretty grand in Annie's room right now...but I have a place in mind at our new house it might look even better... :)

Now it's time you check out these other fabulous gals...

This month I'm sharing a SUPER EASY and CHEAP project made from these old thrift store candle holders I found...4 for $1.

I taped them up...

and sprayed them down.
