"One" Deceiving Tablecloth

I feel so fortunate that our neighborhood has the sweetest little barn to use for parties and such, which really comes in handy come birthday time! And, on top of that, it even comes equipped with an old table! However, like I said, it is old...and well, it absolutely needs to be covered. This is a pretty simple fix...except that I couldn't get past trying to cover up the legs of the table too. My goal was to make something that would touch the ground.

After measuring the table (roughly 100x30), I ended up cutting 2 pieces of burlap (both at about 160+ inches long) and ironing a fold at both ends. (I left the long sides unfinished.)

Then, I finished the folded ends by simply sewing a straight stitch all the way down.

Here are both panels of burlap placed on the table. I didn't sew them together. I only placed them side by side on the table, in the hopes that it would appear to be one long piece of fabric.

The problem, of course, is that this shows on top of the table...all the way down. BUT, if all goes as planned with the decorations and such, you shouldn't see this at all.

I think I'll be happy in the long run I did this...it feels clean and finished...and ready for a party. :)

We still have a bit of cleaning to do down there, but it's certainly nothing that we can't handle...
