Remember those niches?

Well, when we last left the niches, I still had one unfinished.
I had no intentions of styling them the same, so I wanted to wait it out and see what felt best there.

And well, you know I have a thing for hanging chairs...

Hahaha...well, to be exact, old chairs in general...

and it sure enough felt right.

Repurposed Fan Belt Display

It's the first Wednesday of the month...and you know what that means...

I was pretty excited about this months project- mainly because I've had this old fan belt display I found at the flea market years ago sitting in our garage...outfitting spiders with new digs. It was making me sick I couldn't find a spot for it.

If you remember, it used to hang in the laundry room in our old house...it fit perfectly there. But here, I just don't have the same setup.

Luckily, while I was putting together the fall decor, an idea came to me...

so now it sits.

(And while we're at it...here's a sneak peek of the fall table.)

Be sure to check out the rest of the RRR projects this month. I assure you, they never disappoint.

Y'all are gonna think I'm crazy...

but I added a little something new to our shelf yesterday.

hahaha...
OOOkay, let me explain.
I don't know if I told you or not, but the couple who owned this house before us had 4 children. So, needless to say, move-in week we found a lot of hidden stuff...
ONE of which happened to be a shoe...in a tree.
I spyed it there out of the corner of my eye...and couldn't help but laugh.

Silly, but I guess it was then that I realized how kinda sweet that dirty old shoe was...and everything else we happened to have found stuffed in the AC vents, smashed in the carpets, stuck to the floors, buried in the yard. Maybe it even made me realized how much this house really was loved before us.

So, it made me want to keep a small piece of that...

whatever it may be.

A niche...really?

When we first looked at this house, we all kinda joked about these little niches that sat tucked on either side of the front door. "How weird," I thought. Why in the world would someone need such a thing?

The people that lived here before us simply hung a single picture in each one. It was fine, but still looked a bit awkward and somewhat out of place...

For a while there I went back and forth with what I would do with the spaces, but once I recieved Fleming's little housewarming gift, I became pretty certain about at least one of them...

Dressed and Ready.

I had a second to fill the shelves this weekend...although I do apologize, it was cloudy and rainy all weekend, so my pictures could have been better.
(I should have waited, but I was much too impatient.)

the big G

It might be a known fact that I enjoy typography...some might even agree that I enjoy it a little too much
hahaha.

I won't deny.
I DO love it.
Maybe it'll pass one day,
but for now- there'd be no way I could pass this find up.

This would be one of the many items I found at the flea market a few weeks back.
It's also my biggest letter yet...

I haggled it down to $55...
(and I'll be the first to admit, that's a little on the high side for me)
BUT, I'm pretty certain I won't regret a single penny.

Quick & Easy Thrift Store Candle Holders

Alright, already! I'm taking a break from the organizing and packing today! Geez.
And, today I'm thrilled to be participating yet again in our monthly Repurpose, Recycle & Reuse series! It's so exciting seeing all the great ideas these gals have! This has quickly become my favorite post of the month!

This month I'm sharing a SUPER EASY and CHEAP project made from these old thrift store candle holders I found...4 for $1.

Seriously. This took me not even half of nap time.
I taped them up...

and sprayed them down.

It could have possibly been the quickest project yet!

Now, check out these cool projects:

Gram's Tricycle Themed 1st Birthday

I do apologize for the delay...with the party and all the pictures to sort through (among other happenings that I'll get to later), it took me longer than I imagined to get this post out to you.

But, you'll be happy to know, Gram's party was a huge success! I couldn't have been more pleased with how it turned out!
Bare with me, and I'll try to describe what was what... and what was where...

Honestly it's hard not to be all about pictures for a 1st birthday party. A few weeks ago I set Gram up next to the tricycle and snapped as many pictures as I could.  Out of the gazillion photos I took, I came out with about 10-15 super good shots.
This one I printed out and backed on foam board. It hung below a bunch of fabric strips on the front door.

That miniature tricycle you see is actually a Christmas ornament I found on eBay. Turns out it was a perfect cake topper. :)

I made the little cake banner with the same fabric scraps I used for the mantel...simply cut and glue.

I literally made that large-scale "gift tag" on a whim after doing the string lights in the kitchen. I cut out the shape on poster board, glued some scrap paper around the cut-out hole and decorated it with a gold paint pen.

The runner you see on the table is wrapping paper I found at Target...

which was the perfect backdrop for doodling Gram's age next to each picture.

You saw the chalkboard already...

but since then, it turned into a little message station where guests could write a sweet note to Gram... maybe my most favorite spot of the party.

If you were still wondering about the mantel, I wrapped the old $1 wheels in string lights and put up a few more tricycle pics of Gram to finish it off.

And lastly, the string lights in the kitchen...

I was thrilled to partner up with Tiny Prints for this party! Because, wouldn't you know it, they had the most perfect thank you cards to fit Gram's tricycle theme.

It's still hard to imagine my sweet boy is already a year.  No doubt, the older you get, the faster this precious time flies by. I try so hard to suck it in and soak up the seconds, but somehow I can't ever get enough.

Nope. Never enough.
