the fall mantel

I couldn't tell you why...but I've gotten on a major wheat kick this year.
I'm loving it...like really loving it.
It screams fall, but yet it's so simple and natural.

I couldn't go without using the fall banner I got from these girls several years ago...

and of course, you don't walk too far around this place without a chalkboard in view.

Putting it together really made it feel fall around here...even in a place I've never really "felt" fall before.
It's really quite fabulous.

Fall Mantels (from the past)

I guess it's that time of year again...the annual blast from the past holiday posts have officially begun.
It's a little bittersweet this year...as we no longer have this sweet little mantel anymore. But, how wonderful to have such great memories of our old house...

Gram's Tricycle Themed 1st Birthday

I do apologize for the delay...with the party and all the pictures to sort through (among other happenings that I'll get to later), it took me longer than I imagined to get this post out to you.

But, you'll be happy to know, Gram's party was a huge success! I couldn't have been more pleased with how it turned out!
Bare with me, and I'll try to describe what was what... and what was where...

Honestly it's hard not to be all about pictures for a 1st birthday party. A few weeks ago I set Gram up next to the tricycle and snapped as many pictures as I could.  Out of the gazillion photos I took, I came out with about 10-15 super good shots.
This one I printed out and backed on foam board. It hung below a bunch of fabric strips on the front door.

That miniature tricycle you see is actually a Christmas ornament I found on eBay. Turns out it was a perfect cake topper. :)

I made the little cake banner with the same fabric scraps I used for the mantel...simply cut and glue.

I literally made that large-scale "gift tag" on a whim after doing the string lights in the kitchen. I cut out the shape on poster board, glued some scrap paper around the cut-out hole and decorated it with a gold paint pen.

The runner you see on the table is wrapping paper I found at Target...

which was the perfect backdrop for doodling Gram's age next to each picture.

You saw the chalkboard already...

but since then, it turned into a little message station where guests could write a sweet note to Gram... maybe my most favorite spot of the party.

If you were still wondering about the mantel, I wrapped the old $1 wheels in string lights and put up a few more tricycle pics of Gram to finish it off.

And lastly, the string lights in the kitchen...

I was thrilled to partner up with Tiny Prints for this party! Because, wouldn't you know it, they had the most perfect thank you cards to fit Gram's tricycle theme.

It's still hard to imagine my sweet boy is already a year.  No doubt, the older you get, the faster this precious time flies by. I try so hard to suck it in and soak up the seconds, but somehow I can't ever get enough.

Nope. Never enough.

The Christmas Mantel

I guess you've gathered by now I went a little brighter in the house this year...which I've loved. I really wanted longer and skinnier stockings for the mantel, but I ran out of time and ended up just buying these from Target. I'll shoot for those maybe next year...

I found this wooden star for a steal at Carolina Pottery...which turned out to be the perfect spot for those glittery globe lights I made a few weeks ago.

I ended up making 3 of those scrap fabric ornaments for the tree...but honestly, I'd love to have 10 more!

Happy Christmas, guys!

The Fall Mantel

I decided to keep the fence up for the fall. Although, right now it's kind of acting as a "gate"...

Get it?
:) Ross did.

I've had this washtub for months and months that I've been dying to use...
I'm happy to see it out.

How is your mantel coming along?
Comment your link! I'd love to stop by!

A Summer Mantel

Gosh, I can't believe it's already been over a year since I mod podged this photo. In fact, she was still one at that point...
Man, time is flying by way too quickly in this house.

That old fence you see back there is straight off the beach and given to me by my sweet friend, MK. Somehow she knew I'd love it. :)

Goodness knows, how could I not? It screams summer, and I do love the summer...

...not to mention ice cream.

One Fabulous Frame.

I scored this frame for 10 bucks the other day at the thrift store...so you can imagine how thrilled I was. And, with baby Gram's baptism this weekend, it turned out to be the perfect centerpiece for all the left over baby announcements we had.

So, I started taping the announcements right on top of the mirror...

until it looked like this...

And, it turned out to be the perfect little something for Gram's special day.
