Knock-Off Anthropologie Letters

Happy New Year, guys!  I hope everyone had a splendid holiday! Time to get back in the swing of things around here, and I've got the perfect project for it!

As you know, I've been working on the laundry room the last few months . . . trying to add a little something to the bare walls. I ran across this project by Kristen Davis Designs a long time ago . . . thinking how fun and easy it looked! And after doing it (a bit different than she did) . . . it was even easier than I imagined!

I started with plain cardboard letters from Hobby Lobby at $2.50 a piece.

Then, spray painted them.

Lastly, I sanded them a bit to take the shine out.

And, what's best of all, the letters are so light weight, all you need to hang them are Command strips!

I'm quite thrilled.

Pin It Now!

  1. I love them! This has been on my to do list for sometime. Only I want to do a word for the dining room. Now there is snow on the ground and I don't know when I can spray paint. You sure are giving me the itch to make my letters!!

  10. Great idea. The laundry room is often the most neglected room in the house. But we spend so much time in there!

I've been working on my laundry room the past month or two also! I haven't gotten to wall decorations yet.

  26. Love these. We have our laundry 'room' in the garage :/ i wish it had its own room but I'm thinking of beautifying the laundry area anyway. I think these letters are a cute inexpensive way of doing that. I made some EAT letters out of fabric for my kitchen and love them.

  41. What's the orange paint color? Love it! I may have to try this in our laundry room. It's painted parakeet green (Sherwin Williams) and the silver letter with white appliances would look really good.

  48. What is the orange paint you used on your walls? I love the combo of orange/white/silver.

  49. I did this for my son's room and spelt out his name. I used high gloss w/ 5 coats and they look sooooo good! Killer idea for a low cost. Don't let the ladies at the craft shop scare you into buying sealer for these...not needed. A couple coats and letting each coat dry does the trick!!!

  50. I must ask. What color is the Krylon paint you used? I know it is a metalic but is it pewter, silver or ? Great joy and so easy and cheap for a really good look. Many thanks.
