i was going to say jewelry- you could get little s hooks to hang necklaces, etc. or get those little clips and make it a christmas card holder or family photo display for the nursery... or clip up baby socks. :)
I had the same thought as another comment above...using thick, colorful yarn and embroider a big initial for a wall hanging. Though it would be cool to use it somehow for Christmas cards...Oh the possibilities.
well, i guess the others are head of me. you could clip just about anything to it. You could also use it as a back drop to set off some smaller frames/pictures that have something in common. It would set them off nicely. Nursery though, sure would look cute with the nicest little baby clothes hanging on ith with vintage hangers. nice score.
I like the idea of poking holes in cards and tying them on with color coordinated yarn-- at your shower have guests write down wishes or prayers for your baby, have them tie them on with yarn or ribbon that coordinate with your nursery, then hang it. Change it up as he grows with pictures, awards, drawings?
I think you could thread colorful ribbons through it and use it as a bulletin board, like the fabric-covered ones you see with a ribbon grid to stick stuff behind. Maybe later it's a place to display all the cute drawings?
I was thinking you could use it to clip a bunch of hair bows on. My daughter's were constantly getting lost and this would keep them all together and would be cute too.
In a nursery, I'd hang it suspended from the ceiling and turn it into a mobile with some colored strips of fabric or small little animals dangling down for the baby to look at in his crib.
I'm new to your blog so not sure if the nursery is for a boy or girl. Either way, I'd paint it all white and then use it as a frame/background/canvas for a piece of art in the bottom right quarter section. Or a little bigger. It could be cut from paper or layered pieces of felt perhaps. I have no idea if I'm conveying what I'm thinking but this piece sure has potential!
The first thing I though of when looking at it is that you could use the holes similar to cross stitch only using maybe thicker yarn to sew a picture onto it. Or maybe personalize it with a name and a picture. :D
Put some light colored cork behind it (or paint caning and cork one color) and use it as a cork memo board. It's a lovely disguise for the cork and you could avoid ruining the caning so that it could be repurposed again at some future date.
I think I would use it for earrings :)
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing something cross-stitched with colorful yarn. Maybe a letter?
ReplyDelete...Or his whole name if turned sideways.
ReplyDeleteMemo board ... using small curtain clips from Ikea
ReplyDeletePerhaps a painted scene on it and propped in front of the window, lets the light in and provides privacy!
ReplyDeleteI'd paint the rim a cool color and hang my earrings on it
ReplyDeleteI thought of a table! Top it with a piece of glass, beautiful. The caning is in great shape!
ReplyDeleteBow holder

ReplyDeletepin pictures to it!!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking jewelry too! great minds think alike!
ReplyDeletei say suspend it from the ceiling horizontally and put little stuffies on top of it. super cute! i would have had a hard time passing that one up:)
ReplyDeleteI'd clip sweet cards and photos on it, or punch a hole in the photo or card and tie it on the ratan with a pretty ribbon.
ReplyDeleteI'd hang it in the window like a swag curtain maybe

ReplyDeletemaybe would hang it sideways and use S-hooks for hanging light things from it.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun find! I'd paint it and use it as a memo board!
ReplyDeleteSince I have a ton of earrings, that was my thought. Don't you have some creative readers who are sparking ideas. What idea will win out?

ReplyDeleteI would cross stitch a message or initial or shape with chunky yarn. Then clip things to it like a message b
ReplyDeletemod podge a beloved photo right in the center for a great, quirky frame.
ReplyDeleteSpray paint and hang on the wall in your bathroom to organize earrings on.
ReplyDeleteodd shaped window accent? or to diffuse an ugly or inconvenient view but still enjoy the freedom of natural light.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely earrings. You could even hang other jewelry pieces on if you had hooks.
ReplyDeleteA tray to hold books or other necessities for little one.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, you make something cool with it and I will copy you.

ReplyDeleteI was also thinking about making it a mobile. I think it would look lovely as a mobile.
DeleteI'm with Bliss. Hilarious! (seriously though, I like the thought of cross-stitching on it)
