Found a few plaid blankets recently, one at Goodwill, one at a yard sale-both $1! Plays is more my thing than crochet, but you inspired me to start searching:)
Oh, I've got a collection of these too! I started buying them for a DIY idea I had (still not done), and now I can't stop. I'd have had to jump at a $1 one, too.
I adore the crocheted blankets! You are lucky to find ones in such great colors! By the way, I thought you would appreciate the fact that I found one of the books you recommended in your guest-post for "The Art of Reading".... at the thrift store! (Heaven is for Real) Happy thrifting!
I love the afghans....I always picture someone's mom or grandma crocheting them and wonder how anyone they get rid of them for $1. I love your happy, cool style. betty
Love this find and your entire collection!! I found a great mustard and green afghan for $2 and was in heaven. It's amazing that people give these handmade treasures away but lucky for us they do!! LOVE your blog :)
i LOVE them! i got the most amazing "grandma" quilt at a estate sale last summer for $3. this post actually got my butt moving saturday morning to hit up a few garage sales and holy heavens did i score some big ones. a $480 brand new jacket for $10 (we're blogging about it tomorrow) as well as a bunch of other super fun things! thanks for the motivation to get hunting!
I have a few that my grandmother made me years ago...any tips on caring for them? mine seem so rough and stiff. would love some ideas on making them more soft and fluffy so I would want to cuddle up with them. Thanks!
I do wash them...on a gentle cycle...and I HAVE put them in the dryer...and they've done great. I guess the softness will really and truly depend on what type of yarn was used... I know this was no help to you! I'm sorry!
I want to cry every time I see them at Goodwill. My husband laughs at me because I look at him and say, "there is so much love in this, I can't believe someone would get rid of it... AND IT's ONLY A DOLLAR....."
