Change-up a boring shelf FOR FREE!

This used to be the shelf in our master bathroom.
Pretty dull. Not even worth looking towards, if you ask me.

BEFORE

My first thought was to cover the back wall with wallpaper...but quickly changed direction when I couldn't find anything suitable for less than $100...a roll.

On to Plan B.

I ended up making a stencil from THIS fabric on the kitchen chairs using a piece of cardboard I tore off an old bottled beer box.
Next, I simply stenciled on my pattern all over the wall.

Using some left over brown paint I found in the garage, I painted inside the stencils.

    1. Thanks so much! I used a brush for this project...mainly because I was painting within the pencil marks I made with the stencil.

  16. I love it! May I ask how you used the fabric to make the stencil? Did you cut out the white spaces on the fabric and then trace the holes onto the cardboard and then cut those out? I've been trying to figure it out and that's the only way I can think of. Thanks!
