Bookshelf REVEAL!

If you remember, I told you last week I was repurposing my dad's old shelf.

Here's a recap of my project...the old bookshelf I recycled.

You gave me so many tips, tricks and ideas! I was overwhelmed by your creativity! Thank you! When it came down to it, I chose to paint it...using chalk paint, something I've never done before.
I found this recipe, which consisted of:
1 cup flat paint & 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout

I primed the shelf.
I mixed my recipe and painted 2 coats of the white chalk paint.
Then, I sanded it to my liking.

I love, love, love how it turned out! The color seems so much more rich and milky. It's fabulous...and more importantly, much more fitting in the nursery.

I'm still working on what's actually on the shelf...but here's a little teaser...

  3. You did an amazing job with distressing the shelf, Holly! I love the idea of the white chalk paint. I recently bought a cloche to display a rock from the Grand Canyon I picked up but haven't been too crazy about the wooden base but seeing this post, I just might give it a try myself!
