The Unfinished Afghan

Last weekend my family and I were in the mountains...which is always a treat.
Inevitably, the boys will venture off on some golfing expedition...
while the gals get to explore the uncharted roads of backwoods thrift shops.

At one of our stops, Annie and I ran across this box, entitled: Unfinished Afghan. At first sight I was a bit discouraged...mostly because, well, you already know about my love for crocheted blankets, and I'm not so sure I could actually finish it.

There's no doubt it would look good as a finished blanket...

(and I know this because I just so happened to see the very same blanket go on sale over at Fab.com yesterday...)

but upon further examination, I realized this box of goodies actually had endless possibilities...

What do you think?
What would you do with all this?

  1. Ohhh how beautiful! It looks like all you'd need to do is attache the granny squares together, easy peasy! I'd finish it! It will look beautiful once done. :)

  3. What a great find! And at less than $9 ... awesome! Well, I don't know how to crochet so I might turn it into bunting. Or try to learn to crochet because the finished product does look really pretty. But you're creative, so I'm anxious to see what you decide.

  5. Turn the unfinished pieces into a bunting and the blanket part into a table runner for a holiday dinner or party!

  7. Come on, if I made one of these in my crafting days, YOU certainly could, especially with so many pieces egging you on. You are wicked clever and creative, I can hear it has you under its spell, you just need to take that first step...
I choose the exact same color scheme, the bright colors and the black surrounding it reminded me of stained glass.

  8. At one point in my youth our house had a crochet lamp shade, crochet caps made with beer cans, ever bed had a coverlet and every couch had some crochet thing hanging on it. My mom liked to crochet. She would say finish it as an afghan or maybe two or three smaller ones.

  9. That IS a cool find!
I'm on board with the bunting idea. Also you could use them for cushion covers... or a tote bag? It looks like there's enough for multiple projects.
    Have fun!
